Football or soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world. One of the reasons is that the only equipment the sport needs is a ball, cleats, shinguard, and any markers for the goals. Bring in two teams and the game is on. Informal games can therefore be very easily set up.
Ground measurement
The length of a pitch must be between 100 yards (90m) or , 130 yards (110m) and the width not less than 50 yards (45m) and not more than 100 yards (90m)
Football players & Positions
Each Football team has 11 players and among these players, 1 is a goalkeeper. Be it the offensive or defensive team, the player’s responsibility is to score a goal for the team and stop the opposing team from scoring a goal. Following diagram shows various positions of the players on a football field. A list of player positions and their responsibilities is also provided.
Time
A match consists of two 45-45 minutes halves with a 15 minute rest period in between.
The Ball information
The ball used in football is spherical, 27-28cm in circumference and 14-16 oz (410-450g) mass. The balls used in a league or international match have to be approved by FIFA.
